Plot[ edit ] The film uses an omniscient narrator to provide information on the characters and their personal lives, historical Mexican events, and the settings depicted in the film. These "footnotes" also address economic and political issues in Mexico, particularly the impoverished lifestyle of people living in rural areas of the country. The story itself begins at the threshold of two friends' adulthood. The film opens with a scene of each boy having sex with his girlfriend before the girls leave on a trip to Italy. Without their girlfriends around, the boys take the opportunity to live as bachelors. The boys attempt to impress her with talk of an invented, secluded beach called Boca del Cielo "Heaven's Mouth" , but she initially declines their invitation to accompany them there.
This is a nice movie but however, there is some iffy stuff I had to watch out for. I watched this with my 12 year old and I looked up a few times. There is some sexy stuff in this movie. The whole point of the movie is "Sophie" doesn't know who her father is because her mom slept with 3 different men. There are several uses of "knocked up" and "You got any? In a nother scene a woman slides down a mans waist and ties a towel around his 'area'--You can see he 'felt' it--this scene is naughty and it carries on for a few seconds, also in this scene you see a bag full of "toys" breif. There are several suggestive dance moves.
